Back From Shopping…

January 22nd, 2008 | Posted in General | No Comments »

So I did the whole late Monday night shopping thing and though I didn’t Tweet while in the stores I was constantly checking on twitter. (or is that Twitter? They use a lower case. Hmm.) This is of particular interest to me because though I won’t say I never leave the house I do have a somewhat regular pattern in the places where I go (and when I’m there) so I always know when I’m going to be back at the computer and thus normally put the net out of my head for a while.

Tonight was different. It was different because the aforementioned “Monday night shopping” thing does not exist for me and thus was something of an anomaly that I should later spend some time worrying about. For now I’ll worry more about the fact that the whole time I was shopping I had the iPhone in my hand refreshing twitter. The only time I broke free of twitter was when I got a notification from MySpace that I had comments. I was back to twitter after a quick MySpace check. (see? MySpace Not My Space. Not myspace. MySpace.)

For all of those who care, which will amount to absolutely nobody, I bought lemons and a pencil sharpener. That wasn’t all, of course. Cleaning supplies, light bulbs, toinc water, and frozen veggies top the list as completely uninteresting. My personal favorite “who gives a crap” item is bottle of Sunkist orange soda. Going down the lists we see that there were lots more of these completely uninteresting items until we get to one receipt from a liquor store. Guess what? That tonic water and lemons I bought go REALLY WELL with this GIN! Last time I checked, there wasn’t any meat in a gin and tonic (with lemon!) on the rocks.

I had planned on fixing a drink, putting on some music, taking the Macbook Pro downstairs, and chatting while doing house cleaning. Instead I answered my phone and found myself driving out in the middle of the night to help a friend who had run out of gas on the side of the interstate. The whole time I was out there I was reminding myself that no good deed goes unpunished. It seems tonight I was spared and things turned out alright.

So now the chat-o-sphere seems to have gone to bed, and so has the person I was waiting to have a particular conversation with. What’s left to do? Well, I still have plenty of house cleaning to do. Not to mention all of the writing I should be doing. What really is on my mind though is the urge to put to use my made drawing skills. I have a brand new sketch pad and a brand new pencil sharpener. Time to let some of these awesome ideas out of my head.
